7. Children, Minor Students & School/Preschool Admissions
EduCrib lists preschools, playschools, and schools across India and actively supports parents and guardians in finding and applying to these institutions on behalf of their children. This section explains how we handle data in this context.
7.1 EduCrib Is a Parent-Facing Platform
EduCrib is designed to be used by adults — parents, guardians, and students who are 18 years of age or older. By using EduCrib and/or registering on the Platform, you represent that:
- You are at least 18 years of age, or
- You are the parent or legal guardian of a minor and are using the Platform on their behalf, and you hereby give your consent for your minor dependent to be included in any admission enquiry you submit
EduCrib does not create accounts for children or directly collect Personal Data from minors. All enquiries, admission forms, and lead submissions related to schools and preschools are completed by a parent or guardian acting on the child's behalf. By submitting such a form, you confirm you are the parent or legal guardian with full authority to do so.
7.2 Data Collected via the Admission Enquiry Form
EduCrib uses a single, OTP-verified admission enquiry form across its schools, preschools, and higher secondary listings. The form collects the following fields from the person submitting (the parent, guardian, or adult student):
- Full Name: The name of the parent, guardian, or adult student submitting the enquiry
- Contact Number: Mobile number — verified via OTP before the enquiry is processed or shared with any institution
- Email Address: Used for enquiry confirmation and follow-up communications from EduCrib and the institution
- Location (City): Used to match the enquiry with locally relevant institution listings
After OTP verification, the user selects their course or class of interest (e.g., LKG, UKG, Class 8, Class 9, Plus One). This course/class selection is appended to the enquiry data shared with the institution.
EduCrib does not collect the child's name, date of birth, or any other personal details about the child through this form. The data collected belongs entirely to the parent, guardian, or adult user submitting the form. The OTP verification step confirms the contact number is real and active before any data is shared with an institution.
We do not collect government-issued identity numbers, biometric data, health records, financial information, or any sensitive personal data through the admission enquiry form.
7.3 Lead Sharing with Schools, Preschools & Higher Secondary Institutions
In line with Section 4 of this Policy, when a user submits an OTP-verified admission enquiry for a listed institution, the following data is shared with that institution:
- Full Name of the enquiring parent, guardian, or adult student
- Verified Contact Number (OTP-confirmed)
- Email Address
- City / Location
- Course or class selected after OTP verification (e.g., LKG, Class 8, Plus One)
This data is shared to enable the school, preschool, or institution to respond directly to the enquiry with admission information, fee details, open house dates, and related communication.
Institutions listed on EduCrib are contractually required to use this data only for responding to the admission enquiry and related educational outreach. However, each institution's subsequent data practices are governed by their own privacy policy, for which EduCrib bears no responsibility. We encourage users to review the privacy policy of any institution that contacts them.
Consent Checkpoint: The admission enquiry form includes a checkbox reading "I confirm that I am the parent, legal guardian, or authorised adult submitting this enquiry." This checkbox must be ticked before the Send OTP button is activated. Unticked = no OTP sent = no data shared. This is EduCrib's primary consent record for all admission leads.
I consent to receive calls, SMS, WhatsApp messages, and emails from EduCrib and the specific institution to which this enquiry is being submitted, including where applicable under DND/NCPR rules and recorded consent mechanisms.
7.4 No Advertising Targeting Children
EduCrib strictly commits that:
- No data relating to children will ever be used for targeted advertising, behavioural profiling, or remarketing campaigns
- Meta Pixel, Google Ads, and all other advertising technologies on the Platform are configured to exclude data associated with school and preschool admission enquiries involving children
- Admission enquiry data submitted by parents is used solely to connect the parent with the relevant institution — for no other commercial purpose
7.5 Platform Age Requirements
| User Type | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Parents searching for schools / preschools for their child | Must be 18 or older. By submitting an enquiry on behalf of a child, you confirm you are the parent or legal guardian. |
| Students (16-17 years) searching for colleges / coaching | May use the Platform under parental supervision. Not permitted to submit financial transactions independently. |
| Students 18 years and above | May register and use the Platform fully and independently. |
| Children under 13 | EduCrib does not collect Personal Data directly from children under 13. All school and preschool enquiries for young children must be submitted by a parent or guardian. |
If a parent or guardian believes their child's Personal Data has been collected without proper consent, please contact us immediately at [email protected]. We will investigate and delete such data promptly.
8. Data Security
EduCrib is committed to the security and confidentiality of your Personal Data. We employ physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards in compliance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the IT (SPDI) Rules, 2011, and the DPDP Act, 2023. These include:
- Encryption in Transit: TLS 1.2 or higher (HTTPS) for all data transmitted between your device and our servers
- Encryption at Rest: AES-256 encryption for sensitive stored data
- Access Controls: Role-based access controls ensuring staff access only data necessary for their function
- Password Security: Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text
- Security Audits: Regular penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and patch management
- Third-Party Standards: All external service providers are required to adhere to equivalent security standards under Data Processing Agreements
In the event of a personal data breach, EduCrib will notify affected users and, where required, the Data Protection Board of India, without undue delay and within the timeframes mandated by applicable law.
9. International Data Transfers
EduCrib primarily stores and processes your data on servers located within India. Where we engage international third-party service providers (such as cloud platforms and analytics tools), your data may be transferred to and stored in geographies outside India. All such transfers are governed by applicable data protection laws and standard contractual safeguards, and are made only to jurisdictions that provide adequate data protection under applicable Indian law.
10. Third-Party Links & Services
The EduCrib Platform may contain links to third-party websites, applications, and services — including partner institutions, advertisers, and social networks. This Privacy Policy does not govern the data practices of those third-party sites. EduCrib makes no representations about how third parties collect or use your data. We strongly recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any third-party site before sharing your Personal Data with them.
The Platform uses YouTube API services. To measure content performance, we may track video interaction events (play, pause, mute/unmute) performed by users on the Platform. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
12. Service Personalisation & Call Recording
To the extent permitted by applicable law, EduCrib may record and monitor communications with you — including telephone calls made to or by our support or advisory team — for quality assurance, compliance, and training purposes. You will be notified at the commencement of any recorded call.
EduCrib's automated systems may analyse your browsing activity, search history, and profile information to deliver personalised content, recommendations, and promotional offers. This personalisation does not involve automated decision-making with legal or significant effects without human review.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
EduCrib reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time to reflect changes in applicable law, our services, or our data practices. When material changes are made, we will notify registered users via email at least 14 days before the revised policy takes effect, and post a prominent notice on the Platform. The effective date at the top of this document will be updated accordingly.
Continued use of the EduCrib Platform after the effective date of any change constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy. We recommend reviewing this Policy periodically.
14. Disclaimer
EduCrib shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from the inadvertent or unauthorised disclosure of account information, including financial details. EduCrib does not store credit card, debit card, or UPI credentials.
Any Personal Data you voluntarily provide beyond what EduCrib requests — whether in profile fields, messages, or communications — is considered a wilful and intentional disclosure. EduCrib bears no liability for any breach arising from such self-furnished information.
EduCrib is neither affiliated with nor endorsed by any government organisation, the UGC, AICTE, or any state education board. Information about colleges and examinations is sourced from their respective official websites and is updated regularly, but EduCrib does not guarantee its completeness or accuracy at all times.
