Content Ownership & IP Policy

This Content Ownership & Intellectual Property Policy ("IP Policy") applies to https://www.educrib.com and explains who owns what on the platform, the licences you grant when you publish content, the standards your content must meet, and how we handle intellectual property concerns.
It should be read alongside our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
1. Purpose & Scope
This Content Ownership & Intellectual Property Policy ("IP Policy") governs all content created, uploaded, or published on the EduCrib platform (www.educrib.com). It applies to:
- Paid institutional partners (colleges, schools, playschools, coaching institutes)
- Paid tutors and home-teacher profiles
- Paid consultants and educational service providers
- Verified listing partners (any category)
- The EduCrib editorial and content team
- Students, parents, and general users of the platform
By publishing any content on EduCrib, you acknowledge and agree to the terms set out in this policy. This policy is incorporated by reference into the EduCrib Terms of Service.
2. Ownership of Partner-Published Articles
2.1 You Own Your Content
Any article, blog post, announcement, news update, or written content ("Article") published by a paid partner on their EduCrib profile page remains the exclusive intellectual property of that partner. EduCrib does not claim ownership of content you create.
2.2 License Granted to EduCrib
By publishing an Article on EduCrib, you grant Mascot Techcrib Private Limited a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable license to:
- Display: Show your Article on your EduCrib profile page and across the platform
- Reproduce: Cache, store, and replicate your Article for platform operation and performance
- Distribute: Share your Article via EduCrib's blogs, newsletters, social media handles, and partner channels
- Reformat: Adapt formatting, layout, or presentation to fit different devices and surfaces (without altering meaning)
- Promote: Feature your Article in curated collections, "Trending on EduCrib" sections, or promotional campaigns
This license is and, in the case of EduCrib-controlled archival, backup, cache, and content delivery systems, for no longer than 30 (or such other as practicable) days following confirmed permanent deletion by the partner, except where a longer retention period is required by law or strictly necessary for disaster recovery logs not accessible for public use.
2.3 Attribution
When EduCrib republishes or promotes a partner Article on its own channels (newsletter, social media, blog), EduCrib will attribute the Article to the publishing institution or individual by name. Partners may request a specific attribution format by contacting [email protected].
2.4 What EduCrib Will NOT Do
Despite the broad license above, EduCrib commits that it will not:
- Sell your Article content to third parties for profit
- Transfer authorship or claim your content as EduCrib's own original work
- Use your Article content in ways that damage your reputation or misrepresent your institution
- Modify the substantive meaning or factual claims in your Article without your written consent
3. Who Can Publish Articles
Article publishing on EduCrib is available exclusively to paid and verified partners. The following categories are eligible:

4. Content Standards & Restrictions
4.1 Partner Content Obligations
All partners publishing Articles on EduCrib represent and warrant that their content:
- Is original work authored by them, or they hold the rights to publish it
- Does not infringe the copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights of any third party
- Is factually accurate and not misleading to students or parents
- Does not contain defamatory statements about other institutions, competitors, or individuals
- Complies with the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) guidelines if promotional in nature
- Does not violate any applicable Indian law, including the IT Act 2000, IPC, or Consumer Protection Act
- Does not contain content that is hateful, discriminatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
4.2 Prohibited Content
The following content is strictly prohibited and will be removed without notice:
- Plagiarised or copied content from other websites, publications, or partners
- Fake reviews, fabricated rankings, or false accreditation claims
- Spam articles designed solely for backlink generation or SEO manipulation
- Content impersonating another institution, educator, or public figure
- Undisclosed paid promotions or sponsored content disguised as editorial articles
- Content that includes personal data of students or minors without consent
4.3 EduCrib's Right to Moderate
EduCrib reserves the right to review, edit for formatting, or remove any Article that violates this policy or our Terms of Service, without prior notice.

6. What Happens to Articles When a Plan Changes
6.1 Partner Choice on Downgrade or Cancellation
If a paid partner downgrades to a free listing or cancels their subscription entirely, the partner decides the fate of their published Articles. EduCrib will contact the partner via email at the time of plan change with the following options:

| Keep Articles Live | Articles remain publicly visible on EduCrib. The partner retains ownership. EduCrib may continue to promote these articles per the license granted in Section 2.2. |
| Archive (Hidden) | Articles are removed from public view and stored privately. The partner may re-activate them by upgrading their plan at any time. |
| Permanent Deletion | All Articles are permanently deleted from EduCrib servers within 30 days. This action is irreversible. EduCrib will not retain copies for promotional use after deletion is confirmed. |
Partners must communicate their preference within 30 days of receiving EduCrib's notification. If no response is received within 30 days, Articles will default to the "Archive (Hidden)" option.
7. EduCrib’s Own Intellectual Property
The following are the exclusive intellectual property of Mascot Techcrib Private Limited (trading as EduCrib) and may not be used, copied, reproduced, or distributed without prior written permission:
- The EduCrib name, wordmark, logo, and brand identity
- The platform's design, user interface, and visual elements
- EduCrib's proprietary search algorithms, ranking systems, and recommendation engines
- All content produced by the EduCrib editorial team, marked "EduCrib Editorial"
- Aggregated, anonymised, or derived data and analytics generated from platform usage
- The EduCrib directory structure, categories, and taxonomy
8. Third-Party IP & Copyright Compliance
Partners are solely responsible for ensuring that any third-party content included in their Articles (images, quotes, data, statistics, graphics) is properly licensed or falls under fair use. EduCrib is not liable for IP infringement by partners.
If you believe your intellectual property has been infringed on EduCrib, please submit a DMCA-style notice to [email protected] with the following:
- A description of the copyrighted work that has been infringed
- A link to the infringing content on EduCrib
- Your contact details and a statement that the complaint is made in good faith
- Your signature (electronic or physical)
EduCrib will investigate and respond within 14 business days. Verified infringement reports will result in content removal and, for repeat offenders, account suspension.
9. Indemnification
Partners agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mascot Techcrib Private Limited (trading as EduCrib), its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, or legal fees arising from:
- IP infringement in content they publish on EduCrib
- Breach of the content standards in Section 4
- Any third-party claims related to the partner's Article content
10. Amendments
EduCrib reserves the right to update this IP Policy at any time. Paid partners will be notified via email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the article publishing feature after the effective date of any change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Response time commitments and service delivery obligations shall be suspended during, and for a reasonable period following, any event outside EduCrib's reasonable control, including cloud hosting outages, cyber attacks, DDoS events, force majeure events, government-directed platform restrictions, or interruptions to third-party infrastructure providers.
This document forms part of the EduCrib Policy Suite (Version 2, effective April 20, 2026). Prior versions are archived and available on request from [email protected]. In any dispute, the version of the policy in force at the time of the event giving rise to the dispute shall govern.
